Career Options

These courses assist students in honing their abilities in job profiles.

Professionals with specific talents or the appropriate information, as well as those who know how to apply them, have been successful in the twenty-first century. As a result, believing that ITI courses are inferior to others or that they do not provide strong employment chances is incorrect. Indeed, with rising unemployment rates, ITI students with the appropriate skillset and training will have a better chance of finding work than those with higher academic credentials. When it comes to professional prospects, ITI students have two choices: continue their education or look for work. Both of these options offer advantages, as detailed below

Short-Term Programs:

Advanced Training Institutes (ATI) provide specialised short-term courses for ITI students in certain trades. These courses assist students in honing their abilities in job profiles or industry requirements in their respective sectors.

All India Trade Test:

After completing the ITI programme, ITI students can enrol in the AITT programme (All India Trade Test).
NCVT conducts the All India Trade Test (National Council for Vocational Training). The exam is a skills examination that ITI students must pass to be certified. Students receive a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in their respective trade after passing the AITT. An NTC is a diploma-level qualification in various engineering trades.

Diploma Programs:

Several engineering diploma programmes are available for individuals who have completed ITI training in technical trades or engineering fields. In contrast to ITI courses, diploma engineering courses delve further into the subject, including both theoretical and practical elements of the sector.

Job Opportunities

Students with an ITI certificate have a great opportunity.

ITIs, like other professional and vocational schools, have specialised placement cells that oversee student placement. These placement cells have connections with a variety of government agencies, commercial enterprises, and even overseas companies that hire students for work in a variety of trades.

Positions in the Public Sector:

The public sector, or government agencies, is the largest employer of ITI students. Students who have finished their ITI can work for a variety of PSUs, including the Railways, Telecom / BSNL, IOCL, ONGC, State-based PWDs, and others. They can also look for job chances with the Indian Armed Forces, specifically the Indian Army. Indian Navy, Air Force, Border Security Forces, Central Reserve Police Forces, and other paramilitary forces.

Job Opportunities in the Private Sector:

ITI students are sought after by the private sector, particularly those in manufacturing and mechanics. Construction, agriculture, textiles, and energy are just a handful of the important sectors where ITI students can find profitable career prospects. In terms of specific job profiles, the most sought-after talents in an ITI student in the private sector are electronics, welding, refrigeration, and air-conditioning mechanic.

Foreign Job Opportunities:

Off-shore jobs are another career option that ITI students might pursue after completing their training. Many developed and emerging countries, including India, are experiencing a scarcity of blue-collar workers or people who can fix items or perform related services. There are various career prospects, especially for specialist trades like Fitter, with worldwide oil and gas plants and shipyards.

Self-Employment:

This is perhaps the most crucial benefit of taking an ITI course: it allows you to create your own business and work for yourself. Professionals who do blue-collar services suffer as a result of the preference for white-collar employment. As a result, skilled and certified plumbers, carpenters, construction workers, agricultural labourers, and other workers are in short supply today. Students with an ITI certificate have a fantastic opportunity to create their businesses and work for themselves.
